Monday Miscellanea

May 31st, 2005

Monday Miscellanea comes on Tuesday this week:

Wendy found a wildlife rehabilitator on Friendswood and took the baby birds to her. It turns out that they’re not bluejays at all, but grackles. She says they’re in good shape and will probably survive. It’s nice to know we took good care of them in the short time we had them.

Sunday night’s storm was worse in some parts of Houston than it was here. Several tornados were reported in the area. On the way to work this morning, I saw several downed trees in Friendswood that were in the process of being cut up and removed.

Hurricane season begins tomorrow and runs through November.

We had a Memorial Day cookout on Saturday evening and invited over some friends and neighbors. We served daiquiris, margaritas, and hamburgers. Our guests helped out by bringing over some delicious side dishes. I used Dad’s tried-and-true seasonings and everybody thought the burgers were just great. Robin Penn volunteered to be the event photographer and took dozens of photos. I’ll post some soon.

Saturday’s big news was that neighbors Carlos and Diane welcomed their second child, Maya Ashlyn. Mom and baby are doing fine.
