Out of Time, Out of Phase
July 15th, 2005
It’s Friday evening here in Pearland. We’re half an hour from the season premier of Battlestar Galactica. It’s not even dark outside. And yet, in some parts of the world, people are already reading the new Harry Potter.
Update: still no email from Amazon, but I logged in and discovered that they have indeed shipped my Potter. If UPS follows their usual routine, Harry will go out for delivery at about 7AM, but won’t arrive here until about 6PM. I can wait.
(Charles Kuffner wants to know if we’re ready for Harry Potter. Yeah, Kuff, I’m ready. It’s been a long two years.)

Wish I had accepted an offer to ‘buy by blah blah date or it’s free.’ I pre-ordered a copy back in January (as a surprise for my daughter, but it’s really for the whole family) and I got an email from Amazon the other day saying ‘You know, we might not get it to you on the 16th.’ Geez.

What I WISH I had done was pre-order a copy from a local bookstore. They all had midnight Harry Potter parties for everyone who ordered from them.

I don’t guess I was real worried about getting it at the stroke of midnight. The first day will be nice, and if they don’t get it here on time, free reading will be nice too.

after you read it, can i burn it?

Where’s the hostility for Harry coming from, Summer?? Is because Harry would be nothing without Hermione and yet he gets all the glory?

Summer’s at that age where, if everybody likes something, she feels she needs to hate it. Or maybe she’s been made to watch one too many HP movies. Or maybe there’s just something broken in her head. She’s a teenager now, so who knows?

Summer — please invite me to the burning. I fully support you in this one!
