A New Orleans Frontline Account
August 31st, 2005Ernie the Attorney has been a valuable, if understandably sporadic, source of information about what the Katrina experience was like. He escaped from New Orleans the other day, and I thought that might be the end of his “citizen reporting”. But today he posted an account written by Greg Henderson, a doctor working to help people survive until they can leave the city. He and others have set up a makeshift hospital in a hotel bar, using medicine they took - under police escort - from a local pharmacy. The text breaks apart at the end, but it’s a fascinating account.
