It’s Cadillac Time!

2005.09.01-19.26.59/au-logo.jpgI thought I’d take a break from the Hurricane news and watch some football tonight with the Bucs coming to town to play the Texans. This is my first chance to watch former Auburn tailback Carnell Cadillac Williams play. I’m hoping the Caddy will get a bunch of carries and a bunch of yards tonight, but it probably won’t happen. It’s the last game of the preseason, and the starters aren’t expected to play more than a few possessions.

Here’s what the Cadillac is doing:

Tampa Bay’s first possession:

  • 1st down: carry to the left, then cutting up the middle for 5 yards.

Tampa Bay’s next possession:

  • 1st down: short carry, called back on a holding penalty.
  • 2nd down: caught a pass for six yands.

Tampa Bay is self-destructing with penalties. They do not look like a disciplined team ready for the regular season. David Carr is scuttling the Texans all by himself; he’s thrown two interceptions.

Tampa Bay’s next possession:

  • 1st down: carry around right end for 2 yards.

Carr just threw deep into double coverage and is lucky it wasn’t his third interception. It’s the end of the first quarter, and Carr has yet to complete a pass.

It looks like the Caddy’s night is over. By my count he carried three two times and caught one pass. I hope to see him play more during the season. I guess it’s time to switch over to watch UCF at USC.

By the way, the SEC is well represented in this game. In addition to Cadillac Williams I’ve seen: Victor Riley, former offensive lineman out of Auburn playing for the Texans; Jabbar Gaffney of Florida, for the Texans; Ike Hilliard, also formerly of Florida, for Tampa Bay. I haven’t seen him, but I know that Houston has Gary Walker, a former Auburn defensive lineman, on its roster. And I think Houston’s Domanick Davis played at LSU.
