Friends and family: here’s a hypothetical question for you… let’s say you have an old computer that you want to sell. You’ve found a buyer and agreed on a price. What, if anything, do you do to the computer before you hand it over to the buyer? Do you: (a) do nothing; (b) erase all […]

KHOU-11, via BlogHouston, reports that Astroworld will be closing after the 2005 season! This is a surprise given that Astroworld doesn’t have much competition in Houston. On the other hand, maybe it’s not a surprise: Astroworld is part of the Six Flags chain, which is having its own problems these days. Perhaps the Astroworld closing […]

Elaine got married today. I wish I could have been there, but a week ago we didn’t know what the gas situation would be in Mississippi and Alabama. We didn’t know whether it would be wise to try driving halfway across the country under those circumstances. As it has turned out, I think we would […]

Dear Wendy,
This is for you in case you’re reading…
We all got up fairly early this morning. Summer said she was up at 6:30. I got up at 8:30, after sleeping late to make up for those insomniac evenings. Bryn and Shelbyville were up when I got up. Jackie dropped by to pick up Shelby, and […]

Today we can begin anew. We can forget last week. We can start another winning streak. We can chalk up our first victory on our way to a second consecutive SEC championship.

Sue just wrote to remind me that I promised to set up a weblog for her.
What gives? Where’s my freakin’ blog? I guess you like Leigh Ann more than you like me.
I wrote back to point out that she was going to pick a theme for the weblog to use. She responded with a pair […]

In a little over an hour, Apple will announce its new iPod. Is it going to be the iPod Phone, like most people are saying? Or is it going to be the iPod video player, like everyone else is saying?
I don’t much care for either idea. In my eyes, Apple hit perfection with the 60GB […]

I haven’t read any of these articles yet, so I don’t know whether the full stories are as bad as the headlines imply. On the other hand, that these headlines could even exist is an indication of how badly mismanaged FEMA is right now. “But,” I hear you saying, “Michael D Brown ran one […]

Meet Kaci (pronounced like Casey), our newest foster sheltie. Kaci is about 8 months old and very small: about 12 pounds and maybe ten inches at the shoulder. Kaci has a medical disorder that causes those patches of hair loss on her nose. Kaci is sweet with a friendly disposition. We’re already enjoying her company.
