Why Yes, Now That You Mention It, We HAVE Lost Our Minds…
December 17th, 2005We now own a horse. Here’s how it happened: Fred and Jackie, our good friends from across the neighborhood were offered three horses. I won’t go into the details, but it should suffice to say that they didn’t want all three horses, so they offered one to us. After much discussion, debate, and deliberation, we decided we would take it. The price is right, and we’ve found a place near the house to board the horses.
This morning Fred drove up to the ranch where these horses were quartered and brought back two of them. They’re registered quarter horses, geldings about three years old, somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 to 15 hands, and white in color (or whatever the horsish term is for “white”). If Fred and Jackie decide to take the third horse, a brown mare, they’ll go back for her later.
The horses are temporarily in a stable across town. After they’ve had some blood tests done and are deemed healthy, Fred will move them to a place just around the corner from here. The two geldings are half-brothers born just a day apart. We haven’t yet decided which horse will belong to which family, although I’m not sure it much matters, given that we’ll be keeping them together in the same stable.
More news on the horse situation as it develops…
