Photographic Evidence that We’ve Lost Our Minds

Here’s a photo Jackie took of the horses at their former home:

2005.12.18-12.01.13/HPIM1028.JPG

We don’t know which of the two Fred and Jackie will claim, and which will be left for us. It doesn’t much matter, because we intend to keep the two together and share use of them both. Fred has wisely suggested that we wait to see how the personalities develop before we decide who will take which horse.

Their registered names are Golden Boy and Champion. Not very colorful, are they? Naturally, the girls want to give them new names. Bryn likes the names Chicago and Indiana. We’ve been making other lists of names, most of which don’t have a snowball’s chance, but are fun to toy with anyway:

Ren and Stimpy
Itchy and Scratchy
Lenny and Carl
Selma and Patty
Nitro and Turbo

Some more serious suggestions:

Julias and Gallus, after the Roman emperor and his half brother.

Apollo and Hermes, the half-brothers from Greek mythology. (Or, given how close we live to JSC, maybe it would be better to use Hermes’ other name Mercury.)

Laredo and Sierra. My favorites, just good plain horse names.

Of course, it doesn’t matter much what I think. In the end, the kids are more likely to get their way.

If you find your mind that you have lost – mine should be rather close by – can you let me know where it is and I can go get it…. I think Fred lost his too at the Co-op this morning…
