Off Work, Horse Stuff

December 23rd, 2005

Yesterday was my last day of work until January 3rd. Today I’m going to help Fred clean out the shed at the place the horses are going to stay. I hesitate to call it a stable, because it’s really just a large shed, but it’s got enough shelter to keep the horses out of the weather when necessary. To make room for two more horses in the shed, Fred and I have to clean out an accumulation of lumber and junk. It’s also possible that our horses will be brought today from the other stable; we’ll see.

The property owner has plans to build a real stable. Fred has told her that if she’ll just order the lumber and supplies, that he’ll do the construction. I’ve offered to pitch in and help, but I don’t know what the building schedule is. I may be spending many evenings and weekends over there with my nail gun and tool box.

I might sound like a party pooper, but in the event of a Katrina like hurricane, what’s the plan for the horses?

MORE HORSE PICTURES! MORE HORSE PICTURES! Actually, what the world (and your family) would really like to see is a picture of you actually doing manual labor. PICTURES!

The hurricane plan is to put the horses in a trailer and drive them to a farm where we’ve been offered shelter.
