Capital None
January 2nd, 2006
Oh, what an awful, awful game the Capital One Bowl was today. You have to congratulate the Wisconsin Badgers, though, because they outplayed us all day, on both sides of the ball. (They also got away with holding all day long, but in the end that wasn’t the difference.) We didn’t look at all like the team that upset Georgia and spanked Alabama.
I put this one squarely on the shoulders of the Auburn coaching staff. We’re starting a great running back against a run-porous defense, so why in the world did we try to throw the ball so much? When we lined up and run the ball right at Wisconsin on first down, we were picking up eight and nine yards a pop. The play-calling in this game was just plain awful. Coach Borges, this is the worst game I’ve seen you call. On the other side of the ball, it was a good job by Barry Alvarez to get the SEC monkey off his back in his final game.
