Houston’s new Major League Soccer team has chosen its name: Houston 1836. 1836 was the year in which Texas declared its independence from Mexico and Houston was founded by the Allen brothers. It’s unusual for a sports team name, although not all that unusual in the soccer world. It’s different, and I like it.
