It only took me 45 minutes on the phone with Earthlink and Road Runner technical support (they kept transferring me to each other) to convince them of what I had already figured out: my cable modem had burn out its PC port. They told me I could just walk into the local Time Warner store and trade it out for a new one. Of course, the “local” store is over on the other side of Pearland, but I went while Summer was in French lessons, so it was almost on the way. They gave me not just a new modem, but a whole new kit, so I got both the new modem and a bunch of new cables. The new modem works, but now the wireless router is still not fully working, so the phones work again, and we have Internet access, but only on one PC.
It’s too bad I don’t have more time to write, because I have a story to tell about getting the horses loaded into the trailer yesterday.
