How do you give up a goal in the first five minutes? Isn’t that like allowing a touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage?

You let the winger get the ball deep in the corner, have forever to wait for the nearly-seven foot striker get to the 6, then put a perfect cross to his head, which is conveniently located behind Eddie Pope. It also helps when you’re ranked number 2 in the FIFA rankings.
We were probably always expected to lose this match. The problem is losing by 3-0. The first tie breaker is goals scored.
Well, the Italy game looms large, and should we win there, we have to do it again against Ghana. I think we could still mathematically afford a draw, but the win must be decisive (goals).
Not good.
