Sad news
August 6th, 2006We learned tonight that Aspy, one of our favorite horses at Genn’s barn, has broken his leg and will have to be put down. Apsy is a beautiful big gelding in the color that is called “flea-bitten gray” (Wendy had to explain to me that flea-bitten does not refer to the horse’s hygiene, but to the flecks of black and white intermingled like salt and pepper into his gray coat). At about 20 years old, Aspy is the senior fellow at the barn, and lives in the most favored stall, the one closest to the feed room and to the pasture. Bryn rode Aspy many times before he was retired from lessons. Genna has had Aspy for many years, and we know that her heart is breaking tonight over having to say goodbye to the big fellow. We are all going to miss him.
