No respect
November 7th, 2006I took my lunch early this morning to drive back to Pearland and cast my ballot. By leaving early, I was able to avoid the lines; I walked right up to the table and got my access code, a four-digit number printed on a piece of paper. It was my first time to use the new electronic voting machines, and I don’t like them . . . on general principles.
On my way out of the church, I was approached by a young woman from Rice who asked if I wanted to take a few minutes to fill out a survey form. I don’t usually do this kind of thing, but I agreed to help her out. The questionaire had questions about who I voted for (of course), but also had questions about the electronic voting machines: did I find them easy to use (yes), did I have confidence my vote would be tallied correctly (no), and that sort of thing. I was amused by one of the questions about how I voted. It asked if I voted a straight ticket and gave three answers:
1. I voted a straight Democratic ticket
2. I voted a straight Republican ticket
3. I did not vote a straight ticket
But what about me? I voted a straight Libertarian ticket, so none of these choices apply to me. I pointed this out to the young lady and left the question blank.
I guess that’s what you get when you vote for a wacko third party . . . no respect.
