Today’s ta-ta news

Todd Ackerman at the Houston Chronicle reports on a dramatic drop in breast cancer in 2003. The study, conducted at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, shows that the breast cancer rate dropped by 7% in 2003, after rising about 2% a year in the 90s, then decreasing slightly thereafter. The doctors who conducted the study stressed that there was no sure way to know the cause of the drop, but also said that the most likely explanation is that many older women stopped taking hormone treatments that year. In a type of cancer most affected by hormone use, the drop was 12%.

On my drive home yesterday afternoon, I was waiting on the traffic light at the intersection of FM2351 and I-45. The car in front of me had a bumper sticker reading “Save the Ta-Tas“. I didn’t know what that meant, and I was about to write it off as one of those bumper stickers I will just never understand. And then I saw the pink ribbon. And I got it.
