The girls were all snuggled up in the bed watching chick-flicks and I was cleaning up both our laptops in the living room (patches, scans, re-org of some file collections).

The TV was going off with all these weather alert warnings and impending doom.

I had been using the Chon.com’s weather image to keep an eye on the approach all late-afternoon long, refreshing every few minutes. As your image capture shows it was pretty large, even by our area standards.

And it keep working it’s way to us from the West very slowly. I just knew it was going to take several hours to pass. Heavy thunderstorms, lightning, tornadoes, etc… Time to make hot-chocolate. Even our daughter went outside just as the front finally reached our location. She quickly scampered back inside.

And when it finally reached us, it seemed to pass over in under 20-30 minutes. I guess we were fortunate it came at night when the atmosphere had cooled off. Lightning was light, we had one heavy downpour that lasted maybe 10 minutes, tops. The rest was mild rain.

I haven’t heard any reports of damage (so far) this time in the area.

So for us at least, it was like most sci-fi movies of late….lots of hype and special effects, but no substance.

I guess in the case of the weather, that’s a Good Thing.
