Assignment: Houston

June 29th, 2008

Over at Flickr is a photo group called Assignment Houston hosted by Houston-area photographer and blogger Laurie Ballesteros. Laurie is a friend, and when she found out that Summer and I have new Sony digital SLRs, she challenged us to become involved in her group. The premise of Assignment Houston is that once per month Laurie challenges the group members with a theme or area of Houston to photograph. It just so happens that June’s assignment was an area close to us, Bay Area Houston. This Sunday afternoon, while Wendy and Bryn were at a Pine Hill schooling day with the horse, Summer and I drove around Clear Lake taking photos.

Our first stop was at the University of Houston at Clear Lake. I was looking for a sculpture that I knew was on campus and wanted to photograph. We also happened to discover some interesting wildlife to shoot.

The rules of Assignment Houston allow each group member to submit three photos to each month’s assignment. I’ve noted my three submissions below; all three happned to come from the UHCL photos.

I’m so glad that you had a good day shooting with your daughter. I hope this will become a regular activity for the two of you!
